Beauty in the struggle

When going through the motions of life we often succumb to the challenges we face and the struggles that come our way. We tend to utter the words “why me” or “what next” more often than we would like. This however does not make us weak or negative, it makes us human. It indicates that we have a threshold of how much we can endure before we become depleted or exasperated. And sometimes being at this place is a good thing,  because it allows us to draw closer to God and reach out for strength.

There is a quote which says “struggling is not the identity, you must learn to live while you struggle such that when anyone who sees you can separate the struggle from your life” (anonymous). These words speak volumes and when taking a closer look they encourage us,  to rather than become complacent with struggle to embrace it,  understand that it is a part of our journey, that it is temporary and it is not who we are.  It tells us to live as though we have no struggles we battle with.

Our lives should not reflect our struggles! Many times we share a bit of information about ourselves to others and then they will go “wow, but you would never say you have been through that” . Which is precisely how it should be, as challenging and life altering as our struggles may be we must not let it define us, they should instead shape and groom us, mold us into wiser and more flexible people; who bend and adjusts to the pressures of life and what it throws at us and constantly bounces back.

Go through it,  allow yourself to feel whatever you are feeling, question what it is that you can learn from it and then put it aside. Do not linger on them for too long, instead focus on some of your strengths and the good things in your life.

As I share this with you,  I am battling with many struggles of my own. I however am reassured that at the end of it all, there will be something beautiful, which I will be able to extract from it and use it as a reminder of the hidden beauty often  found in our “chaos”
